The SA crew (Rastus, RVreddog, Chaparro Mike, River Rat, and Panther) arrived around 2:00 AM Sat morning. We unloaded the rigs, setup the tents, and did some visiting with Acprokeith, txcruizerfj40 then we crashed for a cpl hours.. Sat AM we headed out early - got registration taken care of then headed for some trails. Rock garden was first, then the trail at the end of it, then Fun Country, Scorpion Pass, Part of Clydes Revenge, Da Woody, Venom loop, Chaos canyon backwards, and a cpl more that I can't remember.. All went pretty good during the day, only some minor issues...Ruttdigger had a leaking fuel hardline after his second trail, Limey broke a lf front u-joint, 67-SS396 broke a lf frt u-joint, Old Goat had some wiring \ charging \ roog :evilbat: problems. TX_Zuki cracked a transfer case mountchrfal , River Rat had some popping in his frt axle, RVreddog had an electrical short.....We all got back to camp around 4 pm and started cooking supper and getting ready for the raffle. Had some dinner bigok and then we had the raffle jamminzz
After the raffle was over we started getting ready for the night run..Took off and got almost to the entrance of Fun Country and we stopped to wait on everybody to catch up, while we were waiting RVreddog noticed his sparkplug boots arcing, so we shutoff and tried to tape them up and succeeded in pulling 2 wires out of the end, Got those fixed then it would'nt crank so we fixed that, Old Goat's alt. quit on him so he and Bruiser headed back to camp while the rest of us went to Fun Country all was going well until RVReddogs K5 decided to take 5 at the waterhole..1funny1 Fishy1 rolled up beside us and gave him a jump..After it cranked we headed back to camp so we would not slow down the whole group...Got back to camp and got the Generator going for lights and then the whole crowd showed up.. We all spent the rest of the night just sitting round visiting and BS'ing.. Played with Stretch's (or Fishy1's) cage monkey..Heard from Rick James chrfal , saw some keg stands , ate some good food, some beer beer

Now to back track a little, Blazd88 and Westtexask5 made the trip from Lubbock bigok and they were wanting to go on the night run with us, but changed their mind at the last minute due to no headlights, after we all left camp, they went up to their truck to get something and then come back to camp, Apparently they took a slight detour by way of Clyde's Ravine and ripped the steering sector all the way off the frame. (it has an ORD brace on it already) Now when we were all back at camp after our little run, the night ranger guy came driving up and dropped off Westtexsk5 and he told us what had happened, so Stretch and Fishy1 voluntereed to go help them out bigok little while later Stretch comes back and tells us they almost got him out when his rear driveshaft straps broke. Fishy1 was bringing him out the rest of the way.

Westtexask5 and Blazd88 get the Hard Luck award.. their Towrig lost a rear axle bearing 30 miles from Gilmer on the way in, and they drove the last 30 miles in Front wheel drive about 30 MPH... I believe Bruiser was able to help them out with parts to get the Tow rig fixed..

Thanks to all the members who came, I know I had a blast and can't wait for Summer Run II @ K-rocks.

Westtexask5 and Blazd88 get the Hard Luck award.. their Towrig lost a rear axle bearing 30 miles from Gilmer on the way in, and they drove the last 30 miles in Front wheel drive about 30 MPH... I believe Bruiser was able to help them out with parts to get the Tow rig fixed..

I'll second that on the Hard Luck award---between their tow rig and trail rig they made up for anyone that didn't have any carnage.

Went back on Sunday to try and help them get their tow rig going again. I found another Dana 70 through my bud Scot, so we loaded it up in the back of his F250 and headed up to Barnwell with his brother J.C. Well when we get there the Dana 70 we have was out of a Ford box van and the one they had was under a 83 K30 Dually pickup. Another words the only thing they could use off of our axle was the bearings and a seal (seall really didn't fit right). So after much hammering and cutting they got the old spindle nut and bearings off, the spindle had become egg shaped, then either WesttexasK5 or Blazd88 (don't know who is who) tacked welded race/bearing into the orginial hub. Slobbed it up with a whole can of bearing grease, cinched down the spindle nut and stabbed the axle back in. Surely not a permanent fix, but hopefully it was good enough to get them back home.

I had a great time even though the sinus troubles bugged me the whole weekend. Enjoyed meetimg some of the members for the 1st time. Enjoyed the wheeling as always. Hate the alternator quit before the night run on Saturday.
Also would like to thank all the sponsors for an outstanding job. Thanks to Bobby and Rastus for doing the drawing. I will be making a few changes to my rig such as a one wire alternator and a much larger fuel cell.
Looking forward to the next run.

well.....the bearings, as it turned out, were not the only problem with the rear of the tow rig. The whole set up was toast, we made it about to MT. Pleasant and the whole rear went. I had to call my Dad who lives in Southlake, he came down and and pulled the Blazer on the trailer to Blazd88's families place in Decatur. Then we had to turn around and go back for the truck...needless to say both rigs are in Decatur at the moment. It is 2:00PM, after 24 hours on the road, I just walked in the door to my home in Lubbock! We had an awesome time wheelin with you guys...with special thanks to FourwheelerJeff, acprokieth, Bruiser and his buddies as well as Stretch and Fishy1 for pulling the blazer out. We will get Blazd88's blazer back together and be back at it soon....by the way I am the one who welded the race, just to put the face with the name. Thanks again guys, I am sure Blazd88 will get on here and put in his words also.

i think that may have been the beer talking... but it was pretty fun when mike almost rolled the jeep. but like he poited out afterward that was a steep hill and there would have been alot of rolling

I had a great time. cool to do some TX wheelin. I had fun on them all, but the faves were fun country, dewoody, and uhhhh...well--the rock pile was fun to play on. i dont remember all the names. lol

wheres mudgoddess's pics and vids? i got throttle happy late in the afternoon on sunday, and there should be some good footage. my buddy w/ the yellow unimog double cab showed up too. we did politician, the 5 rated ledges on j-b turnpike, sidewinder and wiley coyote. i was trying to break it, but i was not able to. i guess its strong enough for now.

Well I cant say enough about this weekend. Looking back the fun still outways the fact that i cant keep my eyes open since we drove nonstop all night. Anyway thanks to ALL!!!!! I had a blast just putting faces and rigs with names much less the wheeling. Ive got some pics coming and hope to see all yours(and the vidoes).

Let me catch up on sleep and I will continue.........
