Incredible Run at Clayton

Most certainly should be on everyone's bucket list for wheeling. The terrain and scenery alone is worth the trip.
As for the wheeling, nothing short of awesome. Trails of every difficulty level and a bunch of them. Even better, almost no rules and night wheeling is fine.
I was able to meet a bunch of TX 4x4 guys, finally putting faces and real names together with screen names. In fact, several came together with generator, and grinder to repair a wounded rig.
Clayton is very unforgiving, carnage is imminent. No one in our group left without body damage.

Had a great trip over all.

Trip up there was a little rough. Should only take ~4hrs..took me 8hrs. Left out ~2pm, arrived ~10pm. Lost trailer brakes about 10 miles in, controller wasnt recognizing the trailer..messed with it for about 1.5 hr, then randomly started working again. Blew a tire just north of Denison.

The wheeling was awesome. I don't recall all of the trail names, but remember we ran KT's, Green Mamba, Green Mamba Ext, John Abrams (I think), Redneck Millionaire Blvd, Water Falls and a ton more.

The shake down went great. Only carnage was the tranny shifter cable melting the sheath against the exhaust, cable pushed out..fixed it with some plastic pipe, hose clamps and zip ties. Was able to shift again, but the adjustment only allowed me to get down to 2nd gear. The techinical crawling was tough since I couldnt get in low low.

Only pic I took.

Hiapo will become famous soon enough
Thanks for the pics Jamey. It was an awesome trip, can't wait to go back.

I ended up breaking on Saturday when I ripped a hydro line of my ram on Black sheep blvd, and had to drive back down with manual steering which sucked big time. It's hard to turn 42's with no power steering.

Awesome trip!!

Here's my folder of pics. I had the camera mounted to the frame and didn't notice the top of the pics were blocked by the cage.

Really had a great weekend. That was probably more wheeling in 1-1/2 days than I have done anywhere else. Bobby and Gary (not sure of their screen names) showed us around the ranch and the trails.
We got kinda lost Friday night but it turns out we were only about 50 yards from camp, LOL. Got back at about 3am that night.

The pics really don't do the terrain justice. Most of them just look like flat ground. My favorite trail was Redneck Millionaire. It's a creek bed about 40' wide full of boulders going uphill. Very technical, you have to really concentrate on tire position and watch out for diff draggers.

It was strange to find mudholes on top of the hills.

Hey 90K5,
How in the world did you find the ranch at 10pm Friday?

It was a bit of a challenge since the street signs in Clayton did not match what the damn iPhone GPS said. I thought I was going to get directions from the cop following me around town, but got lucky and found some guy walking on crutches.
