King of the Canadian Feb 2010

OFFICIAL RULES

This will be a King of the Canadian, Tough truck challenge on february 28th, 2010. The idea is to get a taste of every type of obstacle that the area has to offer in one event. And find the most well rounded drivers/builders around.

CLASSES ARE AS FOLLOWS

TRUCKS-STOCK: Any FACTORY bodied rig that is running STOCK STYLE suspension and motor. BOLT ON accessories ONLY. No power adders (nitrous or aftermarket blowers). Factory running gear up to 1 tons will be allowed. Fender cutting for tire clearance is ok.
Within stock trucks- there will be 2 classes by tire size. Up to 36, and 37 and up

TRUCKS-MODIFIED: Rigs with MAJOR suspension/axle type changes, MAJOR motor swaps, power adders, and you know--Stuff that aint stock. Up to 44 inch tire
These rigs should still have somewhat of a truck body left on them and a truck frame.
Within modified trucks- there will be 2 classes by tire size. Up to 37, and 38 to 44

General idea about motors and classes. Old Toyota truck with newer Toyota motor- this guy can run stock. Toyota truck with Chevy V8-this guy is running modified.

BUGGIES: all others. these are usually the tube chassis rigs that started as some axles and a motor on a stand in the shop, and then you filled in the blanks with some cage pipe. You know who you are.

Sometimes there is a fine line between buggy and truggy etc.. If this becomes an issue, a driver vote will determine the class.
Rig classification will be determined before you pay.

Helmets and seatbelts will be mandatory.

This will be a TIMED event, with no point/cone system. There will be a marked course. Leave the course, your race is over.

The course will be in the same general area as the event last year. It will be on the west side of the freeway near the backside of ‘widowmaker’ if you are new to the area, just head west toward the train bridge and you will find us.

This will NOT be the same RACE as last year. It will be longer, will cover more obstacles, and will have an all out section across the sand. Yup, that means you will have to cross the river. The exact map of the area will not be released until the morning of the race.

Each vehicle can have a navigator/spotter. HOWEVER- IF THE SPOTTER GETS OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE MUST BE AT A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS FOR SAFETY. JUMPING OUT WHILE MOVING WILL GET YOU DISQUALIFIED.
That being said, strap pulling, rock stacking, winching is all allowed, anything goes as long as you are not intentionally making the course harder for the next driver or being blatantly unsafe.
NO ALCOHOL, ALL LOOSE ITEMS MUST BE TIED DOWN OR REMOVED BEFORE RACING, NO WINERS!!

Entry fees will be $20.00 per rig, with 100% of entry fees going to cash payout to 1st and 2nd place in each class. 1st 2nd and 3rd places will receive whatever trophies and swag that I can get my hands on.

Signup/setup will be from 7-10am.
Drivers meeting @ 1015
Racing will start @ 1100.

Let's keep it simple, and most of all, HAVE FUN!

Any questions??? TO BAD!

In! Thanks for the chance!

Me and Charley(my co-dog) are in for the buggy class! Charley said we're going to show up and pass out hats so people have something to hang on to!

My f-toy would be in the buggy class right?

The rules look good so far, but they are a little vauge.

So what exactly constitutes a STOCK STYLE suspension? 4 inch lift, 12 inch lift, Long arm, IFS to Solid swap? Tecnically these are all STOCK STYLE.

Are lockers front and rear allowed, Traction/Anti-wrap bars, SuperLow (like 4.56 and higher) gearsets? I can run my totally stock Duce-anda-half or HummVee in this class right?

Bill, good question. ill clear that up. we are trying to keep the rules simple. STOCK STYLE would be the TYPE of suspension that the rig came with, or was available with. if the rig was leafs all the way around, but you did a 3 or 4 link coil conversion, you are modified. if you still have the leafs, but did a big LEAF/BLOCK lift, its still stock. no hieght limit. that being said. notice that the rules state UP TO 1 TON. so im sorry, you cant race your duece in stock. the humvee is technically a 1 1/4 ton vehicle. however, i would let that one go to a driver vote, majority rules.

track/anti-wrap bars are allowed.

lockers and gears, front and back are fine. anything goes on these.

hope that clears it up. thanks for the question.

Hey Everybody, just a reminder. if you havnt already baught your Texas OHV sticker for your vehicles, do it ahead of time. last year the TORA folks were charging people an arm and leg for them. and the cops were giving healthy tickets for not having them. its only 8 bucks. i know the outlaws are talking about having a bunch of them out there and selling them at cost, not sure if thats going to happen for sure yet though.
here is a link with info on getting them

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/ohv/buy.phtml

also, how are everyones rigs coming? mine is getting very close. and the crew has named it the FAZDA.

one more thing, we are trying to put together a list of volunteer help for this event.
anyone interested on manning a radio and a section of the course? we still need a few things. more caution tape, banners, stakes (any lenth) and swag for racers. and a Giant Flag, any giant flag. the bigger the better.

please call me @ 575-791-9704

Thanks!!

There are some banners that I dropped off at Gerralds shop. I can get you some more if you need. How many feet do you think you'll need?

Thanks Bill!! i would use as many Banners as you can give. im trying to make the course as safe as possible, so as many feet as we can get. the course will be a mile (ish) or so? and its going to be a tough task keeping it safe, so the more the better.

also, just so i know ahead of time, will you need these banners back?

thanks again.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you boys have to offer for rock crawling up there. I'll be making the 8 hour drive along with a few more guys from the DFW area. The tough truck callenge sounds fun but I won't be entering it this year. Something about a go fast area and my monster 1.3 liter under the hood just don't sound right. lol

See you boys in Feb.
