Lonestar Early Bronco Roundup, 4-25-08

My friend J.D. (jesus_man on this board) invited me to the Lonestar Early Bronco Roundup at Katemcy Rocks on April 25. There were 80 Broncos and 12 "others".
We arrived at about 2pm on Friday with very nice weather. We set out for a warmup run through Aggie Highway. At the end of Aggie Hwy, we went left through Backbreaker. I'm not sure where the actual Backbreaker section is, but we played around on the boulders in taht area for a while. Then ,we went back to camp with some rock rash on the left side on J.D.'s Bronco.
At camp, we looked through all the sponsors goodies and put in raffle tickets on several items. The club was starting some fun activities to pass the time. Friday evening there was a band from daylight til about midnight.
Saturday was also a real nice morning with a col breeze and bright sunshine. Lots of wheeling that day. J.D. broke the sector shaft in his steering box. We found one at camp and went back to put it in. After a little more wheeling, we went back to camp for the sand drags and a fine BBQ dinner. After the dinner there was te raffles and such. Before the raffle was over, they announced that there was a tornado headed directly for Katemcy. So, everybody scattered to batten down the hatches. It was kinda scarry for a little while, but the weather channel said we only had about 20 more minutes to worry about it. We could see some nasty clouds when the lightning flashed.
It rained off aned on til about 3am. Then the wind picked up and it started getting colder. We woke up about 7am and started packing our stuff because the weather seemed to be getting worse.

All in all it was a very fun trip. I met a lot of new folks and did lots of wheeling. noo carnage on my rig since I decided to hold off of the extreme trails.

Heres my folder of pics.

Only carnage of the weekend, besides some customary rock rash on the sheet metal.

I can't remeber last week...You want me to remember 2 years ago.
I reckon it was about that far ago.
All I got to do was web wheel this past Saturday. Thought about working on the toy...but naaaaa. didn't do anything and it felt great.

Nice report Dale!! I had a great time despite the weekend cut short due to the weather and carnage. As we neared Fredericksburg, the weather cleared and would have made for nice wheeling weather, but katemcy could have still been socked in.

As always Randy & Shain were great hosts and the event went very good.
