Monkey Creek May 2010

Well we, Myself, Travis and Shandy left Clovis Nm. about 10:00 our time on Friday. Things were going pretty good rolling down the road at 70 75 there abouts. Then we started down over the cap and it got a little scary the wind had to be blowing 40-60 mph and it felt like it was going to blow the motor home over. Slowed down to 50-55 after I got the seat out of my butt.

We made the turn off the pavement at the entrance to Monkey and wasn't to bad for a bit then we thought we might have to download the jeep to pull us in. It was cool rock climbing in the motor home.

We were greeted at the gate by a BUNCH of GOOD LOOKING Gales that gave us the skinny about the weekend, got our pink wrist band and headed in to find a place to park. We pulled up next to this fella with this really nice Motor Coach and asked if we could park next to him. (didn't want to bring down the property values with our rig without asking). Turns out we wheeled with him just about the whole weekend. He said he had some other folks coming in but I was more than welcome to dig in right next to him.

We didn't know if the trails were going to be extreme enough to keep us happy, turns out we broke plenty trying to blaze new trails and keeping up with the regulars.

Saturday night was a surprise as they had a couple of singers with acoustic guitars sitting around the camp fire with us and man were they good we sat there for 2-3 hrs couldn't keep track as I was a little drunk. You see I drink about a 6 pack of a year, Rodney and I had drank a 30 pack and a bottle of rum by the time the singers started. (Didn't feel to bad Sunday).

The ride home was a bit longer as going home is never as exciting as going.
(More wind on the way home.)

If you haven't been to Monkey Creek put it on your calender 2nd weekend of March and 2nd weekend of Oct.

Man did we have a good time.

Thanks to everyone that made a great weekend for us.

We'll be back!

If I can scrape up enough gas money, I'm going to hit the Copper Mine shin dig in two weeks, it sounds like a great time and all our new frinds will be there.

Pictures are courtesy of Nick and Carrah. Thanks guys.

There was plenty of mud and rocks and trails. Thats the hole that claimed the second 30 spline outer on the Jeep that weekend. Still had fun in three wheel drive. It was kinda cool with one axle broke and the air locker unlocked we had 2 wheel low Fun Fun.

I don't have any pictures I couldn't find my camera I packed until I got home, Rats.
