Outlaws Muddfest

Outlaws Muddfest started as a birthday party with a mud pit in a feild, someone had a good idea to start a small event out of it. The problem with it is that they allow alcohol, which leads to bad things when you have 4,000 people in one spot. I strongly advise that if you attend this event that you do not go in the pit with anything nice. I took a jeep i had because i got it for free and i got ran into 3 or 4 times. Saw a few head on's the last time i was out there.

This picture is from last night. Two full sized dodges went head on, probably 20mph each. Good way to screw up your day.

That is why I will never attend MUDFEST. Shame. Looks like fun, but the alcohol will ruin it. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed because of alcohol, and the whole thing gets shut down.

Why can't folks wheel without booze? Y'all might flame me for that, but my feeling is the booze belongs back in camp at the camp fire where you can laugh, horse around, have fun, get hammered, and sleep it off.

Glad you weren't involved in that Ryan, and I hope that the folks in the Dodge's weren't seriously hurt.

I understand what your saying, but if you don't want to be run over by a drunk idiot just don't go to the event. If they want to hurt each other, let them. I attended a similar event every year until this one. Same drunk type mentality, with people destroying things. You know what, I quit going just because of this. You will spend a lot of time ranting and wishing for something to change, but it won't change a single thing. There is obviously more people wanting to be idiots than people that want sobriety or it would have been changed by now.

This isn't a case of telling people what to do. Holding a public event and having a ban on alcohol is common sense. Yes, you can protect people from their own stupidity. To allow alcohol at this type of event is extremely dangerous. It puts everyone's life in jeopardy. There is no need for that.

What happens if one of them who was drinking leaves the facility and is intoxicated and kills a family on the street as he is driving to where-ever? Is that fair to that family who would lose love ones that had nothing to do with MUDFEST? How can you justify that?

I'm all for having a great time. Just keep the booze and the machinery separate until after your done playing.

So we should ban alcohol then?
I tell you what, let's say they shut down mudfest all together........I guarantee these idiots will just go get drunk at a bar or even at their own homes. Then go out a drive, thus putting other innocent people in danger. So should we outlaw drinking at bars and homes also? Drinking and driving on public streets is goin to happen whether mudfest exists or not.

As far as wheeling and booze, I totally agree. It doesn't mix. If k2 decided to let people get trashed and wheel, I would quit going. That simple.........

Mud events are an entirely different animals than rock crawling events, and an entirely different crowd. The ones that attend and participate regularly actually get a kick out of the drunken madness there. Obviously you aren't gonna ban alcohol, however I so think they should not encourage the mix of alcohol and wheeling.. The worst part is these events attract a ton of underage people as well, who are all out for a good time and end up right in the middle of it. Eventually there will be a tragic accident at one of these events, maybe that will help mellow them down.We aren't gonna change it before that, they enjoy it so they will continue to do it. Best we can do is keep to our crawling, only have to worry about destroying your own rig, not others running you over lol.

Very well said.
This is one of the main reasons I sold my blazer. I changed my type of wheeling instead of trying to change everyone elses rules and idea of fun. I just didn't like the drunken madness that went on. It is a different type of
people.

MuddinManny, you know as well as i do that mud usually involves booze. From the sound of it, this event is obviously known to be a drunken riot. It's like going to a gentlemens club and bi*Ching because a woman exposed her goods.......

Since when does MUD have to involve booze? I've been muddin' longer than I can care to remember. We played in the MUD, which was our high. Not the need for booze.

If I would go to a gentleman's club, then I would be going to see the ta-ta's. I'm not operating a machine that can kill or maim. At worse, I'd get a slap across the face, or get an eye poked.

When I go to a mudding event, I go because I'm mudding, not to drink. If I drink, I put others in danger, and I endanger myself. Many who go to MUDFEST can't just have one or two. They get plastered. There is no control. It's a very dangerous situation.

I'm sorry. Alcohol and driving don't mix. It doesn't matter when, where, and why. I'm not saying that you don't have the privilege to drink. Help yourself. But not while your participating in a motorized event. There are still consequences for your actions, whether publicly or privately. MUDFEST + Alcohol = A pending disaster. Alcohol should not be permitted.

Honestly, I can't understand the owners' either. If someone was killed or maimed on their property during this event because of DUI, there is no waiver that will protect them in a court of law. It may spare them criminal charges, but it certainly won't protect them in a civil matter. Seen it happen before and it's not pretty. Why do you think that Joel and 4WP don't allow their flyers in the store? It's because the legal liability to 4WP's would be a business stopper. They'd be sued because, as an example, they promoted the event to a customer, who went, and got injured or killed, as a result of the DUI. The ramifications of such a suit would devastate their business.

Have MUDFEST, ROCKRASH, KOH, whatever. But keep the booze in camp. It's the wheeling that's the rush, not the booze.

Manny, I know you aren't into rocks, but move that one over that you have been under.. Every mud event that comes up nowadays, every mud park all mix alcohol and mud, and encourage it. That is their advertisement. People get drunk and have a good time (that's fine), and people want to wheel an have a good time (fine as well), all of these places have mixed it now. It's nothing new, and it is a known fact now that mud and alcohol go hand in hand. Don't act surprised like its something new, it's not. This is why these events have gotten bigger and bigger and bigger each time. Ask anyone that has been to Shiloh, they say you have to go at least once just to see the drunken madness.

Muddinmanny, I still don't think your getting it. This is YOUR opinion on what should be allowed. YOUR opinion isn't everyones opinion. Just like MINE isn't either. Quit trying to make everyones line up to please YOURS.
People are hurt and/or die from stupidity every single day. We can't follow everyone around to make sure they don't make mistakes or act like an idiot.
Bottom line is, worry about your own safety. STAY AWAY FROM MUDFEST 2013. better yet, try and gather enough interest to have a bog with no booze allowed. Hell, it might be successful. That way you can do what you love, and be around others that have the same thoughts. There you go, no harm done. You get your less risky bog, and the drink redneck kids get there's to have their fun.......

I'm not doing that Ryan. All I've done is answered to what you you have said. I have a position on this activity. You make a statement. I counter that statement. All I'm doing is having a discussion. Life is an argument. Two sides that can logically agree to disagree. You support it. I am more reserved. Just because I'm reserved, doesn't mean that I want to impose my reservedness onto you or everyone else. However, in life, there are some circumstances where you have to take a stand on things. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything.

Mudfest will continue to be mudfest, and incidents will continue to happen. Nothing will change. I can't change it. Sadly it will only change when someone gets seriously hurt or killed because of the alcohol. That's sad to me, because it's unavoidable. That's all I'm saying. That's why I won't go.

Enjoy it. Have fun. Be safe, and be careful. That's all I can say.

Big,

I hear ya. I'm mellow man. I know exactly what your saying. I've lost a few friends to DUI, so this topic just strikes a chord more than to most. I just want to wheel and have fun. That's all.

Manny

I know it's just a discussion manny, it's nothing personal. For the record, I don't support it Or condemn it. I simply get a little worked up every time I see someone wag their finger at someone and telling them they can't do it......
Just avoid the situation if you don't like it. Shiloh ridge was mentioned above. This is the exact place I was talking about. Ive been every year since 2001. 2011 was my last. Too much drunken mayhem for my old arse..........
