Shake down run for the rockwell swap

Well, it only took him a year but my brother in law finally got his rig back togeather. All I can say about it is DAMN I wish mine went that good. His rig walked everything we threw at it and asked for more. Even the rockwell god (Donuts1) himself thought it went very well. I took the PIG just inchase we ran into problems and Jonas joined us as well for a beat down run at Gilmer.

Jonas just wanted to show you don't need 4 tires to run DeWoody

Now it was the PIG's turn

More pics to come.

After playing on DeWoody for a while we headed over to Weenie World and ran that like it was nothing before we made our way over to Weenie World ext. That hill gets worse every time I see it and it stoped the PIG in it's tracks. Jonas made it look stupid easy as always and went up the left side and came around to run up the right side. It took awhile for the buggy to make it but after getting all twisted up he ended up finding a bite on the ledge and crawled his way up. It was a fun show to watch!!!

I told you the ledge was getting big. Jonas wanted to be used for reference

After Weenie world ext. we headed over to watch the buggy attempt Scorpion and like the rest of the day he just walked it. It made it look so easy I almost gave it a shot until I walked up to it and got a good look.

118" it was at 108 when he had it on 1 tons and 42" Isucks. Seams to be working out so far but we will know for sure when we hit Clayton in a few months.

He has put in a ton of work but I think it has paid off. The high steer arms and ARB freakin rock. If he would put some real seats in it I'd sell all my junk and just copilot.

OTC high steer arms. Old town customs. He modified the heck out of them to keep them out of the tires. He has his hub flipped in and is running 4" of backspacing on the wheels. It's narrow for a rockwell rig. I don't have any close up pics but I'll get some my next trip back Northeast.

I

It gets steeper everytime I see it. The few times I've tried the tree stops me as well. Sux being fat.

Does he just have the 4 bolts on top of the knuckle holding the arms on? If so then he needs build a bracket that connects the end of the arm the knuckle in the stock location where the TRE bolts on. It will be shaped like a C basically. If he doesnt he will have problems with shearing the 4 bolts off on top of the knuckles. A friend of mine has a Jeep unlimited on 2.5 tons rear steer, and 47" LTBs. He was always shearing the bolts and ever since he built those brackets he hasnt had any trouble.

Also yall gonna be back out there for Mega Run? I would liketo get a closer looks at yalls rigs.

I hear ya on the high steer arms but I've told him that until I was blue in the face. He bought some crazy grade bolts and seams to think it's going to hold. I'm sure I'll be the lucky person draging him out of the trails when they do break.

I'll be back for the Mega run be he isn't gonna make it. If I see you this time I'll be sure to swing by to meat ya.

I will be sure to flag you down. I wont be following a bunch of jeeps around this time!! I should be out there early friday so that we can get a camper spot. Probably wont do much friday because everyone else has to work until noon or later so it will be almost dark before they get there.

why do you think the 4 bolts (should be studs) won't hold? that's why dana 60 arms and all the others are? 4 arp studs loctited and torqued properly won't sheer. stuff sheers when it gets loose

I know they dont hold up on rockwells. He may not have much trouble since he is in a lighter buggy but i know 2 guys that have had lots of trouble with them breaking. One is a ford superduty and the other is a Jeep unlimited. Both have rear steer and one is on 47s and the other on 44s.

my friend has a 7000 lbs crewcab and hasn't had a problem with his and they are just the 4 bolts.
like i said if you torque them and use good STUDS (arp) you shoudlnt have a problem.
you can also mill a keyway into the arm and knuckle to key it onto the knuckle.

Awesome pics Chris. Good to see Brian finally got that thing out of the garage. Good to hear everything worked the way it was supposed to. Now that he got my tires broke in a little tell him I will be up there next weekend to pick them up.
