snowball 2-02-08

myself and capitalj tagged along with a local jeep club to snowball, in joplin, mo. its a local faverite, thats pretty tame compared to Krocks, but its very close and a good place to test your rig before taking it somewhere good.
as soon as i got there we found out that my tcase wouldnt go into low range. after jacking with it for several mins i decided to just go in high. it kinda sucked and made everything harder, but i still had a great time. my blazer climbed just about everything i tried. if i would have had low it woulda been alot easier. threwout the day the tcase kept making loud popping sounds like it wasnt all the way in gear, or the chain was slipping. just the same i throttled it and was very happy at the end of the day when it didnt blow up. other than my tcase everything went great. with the new spring loaded needle and seat in my carb, i was able to climb hills without the flooding and dying problems that had earlier gave me alot of problems.
yesterday i picked up a good used np205 to fix my problem, and this morning i ordered a twinstick kit for it. when i get that installed ill see what the truck can do.

myself and Capitalj. his rig is a broncoII on f150 suspension. d44/ford 9".

well bad luck happened. some dude driving a longbed chevy had 3 people in the front and 3 people in the bed, in a bench seat mounted at the tailgate. he tried climbing a steep hill (that eats my lunch 3 out of 4 times) and when his truck stalled it rolled back with monsterous force and hit a tree. they had to call the suit and 5 of the 6 went to the hospital on strecthers. the very next day they barb wired the gates to snowball. so now, becuz of a jerk who disregaurds safety we have no local spot.

so i took the rig out a few times, seems the heat is off the place for now. i went and was showing a new guy the good medium trails. stuff i new he'd have a good chance of doing. i took him to a spot that has a cave at the base of a cliff. next to the cave is a big mound shaped hill that steeply goes up prolly 10 feet at the highest. you go over and down and at about half way it levels out for a truck length. at that you have to get over a ledge thats kinda angled from approx. 18" to maybe 36". well if you want the short side you have to navigate a tree that leans the bad way...lol. i always loved it cuz in my full sized even if i took the high side, there is about a 60% chance that im gonna leave some paint. the first time i did it it got me briefly behind the drivers door for a small dent. any how im rambling...heres the best pic of it. Capitalj's the driver.

anyhow, point of the story is.
i was showing the new guy and he breezed right threw it. before i could get up to spot he was threw. then i realized the tree was gone. about a moment or two later, when the full impact of it sank in, i could do nothing but cuss and wish ill thoughts of the jerks that cut it down. maybe im too sensitive, but that obsticle had a lil spot in my tiny heart. it makes me mad that they did it, cuz now its ultra pud.
i didnt even do the trail, i just u-turned and went to the creek instead.
i guess i should throw a good thought out there so i dont end the post like a downer.
my good thought is...... at least the guy that cut down the tree, can do that trail now. he will never have to risk body damage or paint scratches. he will accend the ledge with no problem and his girlfriend wont spill her drink.

this has been a rainy day post.
