Tree's Ranch 3-26-05

Woke up saturday morning and the the day looked beautiful. My jeep has been sitting topless for a month now so I decided to cruise out to Trees. I went thru Ingram & Hunt. This is very nice drive, I was surprised at the amount of exotics that I was seeing free roaming by the river in the early morning. Passed the mini stone henge and went thru the many river crossings and opened her up once out of Hunt.

Well all was well until I reached the little store on 41. Then a down pour happened. I bared it as long as I could and then had to stop and put the bikini I brought with me on. This is when I really got soaked. So I pulled up to trees and luckily the gentlemen with the banged up scout let me park under the leanto with his scout.

There were several people there. Some stock, some moderately modified and some highly modified, about 15 vehicles in all. One of the attention getter's was a guy who brought out a rubiunlimited in the new orange color they have. This thing was awesome! So back to when I arrived, all of these people were in the bunk house. It was pouring and poured until about 10:00-10:30 before we could make it out to the trail. I was soaked and drying out next to a small heater they had going the entire time.

When 10:30 hit we went out trail cutting and cut a new one that I believe may be called turkey something, This trail is in a ravine that quickly climbs a hill. The ravine is ok but the first real obsticle is very challanging. This may be a trail a few people turn back on once they get to this point.

Around 1:00 we started to wheel. Everything was wet giving the trails more of a challange. The two newer rubis that came out were not afraid of the tackling the obsticles so we had a good time. See the link attached for pictures. The buggys went off with together and the modified to the moderately modified stuck together. After wheeling tell about 5:30 I headed back home because trees was going to be closed on Easter. I froze my a**ll the way home but it was not to bad and a good day of wheeling.

The jeep did well. I have one sound that I have to diagnose. When I push the clutch in or let off of the clutch after wheeling for some time I get a weird creaking sound. It has been happening for a while but only seems to happen after wheeling ocassionally. I may replace my clutch soon to give me a little lower engagement on the petal and hopefully that will take care of this ocassional problem. Just another project for the list.

Other then that the jeep did well. I just wish I could have logged in more bowls and ledges and wheeling time all together but nevertheless it was good. The lockers seem to be working well but they need further testing and evaluation!
