Turkey Run I

Was Awesome! We had 50 rigs show up and there was something for everyone.

Thanks to everyone who came and wheeled and froze.

Big thanks to all our sponsors for the raffle.
Midnight Fourwheelers
Big Tex Trailers
4 Wheel Parts - San Antonio
Satan's Playground
Mr. Raymond
Lynne's Learning loft
Sak5
Austin Electric
Copperhead Fab
Ultimate Jeep
DIY4X
Rocky River Camp - Chuger650
CE Offroad

Big winners in the raffle were Electric Bob ( and cutting rig) , Midnight Crawler ( Set of Heims) , and Oscar aka Capn. Morgan (Winch). due to weather conditions and my brain fart I over looked some of the gift certificates, those will be thrown in the Christmas Drawing. Congrats to all the winners

Trail report

I arrived Thurs night around 10 pm, Bowtie, Mudaholic, Mudgod, Mudgoddess, Midnight Crawler and Lynne were already there with a fire going, Clear and cold starry night. visited for a while then hit the sack.

Fri AM, got moving after breakfast and we hit the trails hiding the trail surprises along different trails. Warhorse (jfraymond) and I had a good time doing this along with the help of Bowtie and Mudaholic. they had a some great ideas. "Sucka" Warhorse and I spent most of the day friday hiding stuff and getting in some good wheeling, We met RVreddog, River Rat and BigJimmysRock out on the trail around 2:30 or 3 they wheeled with us for a lil while then we went off to some diff trails and met them back at camp. Weather on Friday was cloudy and cold. Friday night We had a great dinner courtesy of SAK5 and his wife. sure did hit the spot, thanks again jeff. After dinner Modify took a group out for a night run. I did not make this one as I had just gotten thawed out.

Sat AM we awoke to a light mist and cold. the mist pretty much stayed with us all day. We split into three groups and hit the trails around 10 AM. Mr Raymond took a group, Snick and Warhorse both took a group ea.
I went with Mr Raymond's group and we started in the playground and we stayed there for quite a while. We has 14 rigs in our group when we started. We lost two in the playground. Mr Raymond was up 1st and then Filucky in his buggy, they went to the right while I went to the left side and parked up on top and started taking pictures. Mr Raymond gets the most carnage award. While in the bowl part of the playground he managed to rip a link mount from his BTF buggy, grenade two Coilovers, one pinion yoke and possibly brake lines, not sure yet as the full BDA has not yet been turned in BigJimmys rock lost a hub and a rear main leaf spring, Lynne busted two steering lines, and Electric Bob blew a hub. One flop by filucky. Once we all got clear of the playground, we headed on out down the creek beds to hello nasty. I had to run back to camp for my rain gear due to the light mist turning into raindrops. 4x4freak and I caught back up with the group on the first ledge of hello nasty and about the time I got to the ledge I ran out of gas and had a flat. Quick work with a air pump and a siphon hose and we were on our way once more. I had to leave the group and head back in to help get things setup, The rest went on out to Paul Bunyon and got back to camp about dark 30. Bowtie or one of the others can tell about the rest of the run. maybe SAK5 can regale us with his tales of woe from his group.

Sat Dinner was a big success with pork stew and brisket dinner. Many thanks to my wife Sillygirl for making the stew and also to Blazer Killer for all her help in selling raffle tickets, food prep and serving. you gals Rock! Oh and let me not forget the wounded one, Sir Python (hope your knee gets better soon) for cutting up the briskets that Snick prepared so well. you did a great job on the briskets Snick. and last but not least Bigjimmysrock for helping to serve. thanks to you all.

The raffle was good..it was 38* and raining. I think that says it for the raffle all BS aside, we had a great raffle and some really cool items. Pics will be coming up soon and quite a bit of video including one of River Rat showing us his new way of shaving boggers

Thanks one and all,

Turkey Run 2007

Left for Satan's Play Ground on Friday after work. (Maria helped out and bought some winter wear while I was still at work... and a Kiss before I left.)
Me And John arrived their around 6:30 or so...It was dark and it seem a Night Run was in the works. Truck still on the trailer and camp not set up we passed.....it was going to be a cold night.
Well after getting squared up....We met up with SAK5 for A Hot meal. Great food!!!
We headed over to the Midnighters camp where RiverRat,MudAholic,Bowtie to name a few...gathered around a fire. Yes, We are here to wheel...just that the weather was not the greatest. Well, after a few hours of shooting the Chit....Dott brings out the Tequila. Yeah, it's been some time that I hit a bottle and well....don't ask what kind it was...he said Tequila and the bag was brown that it was in. I guess after the third round of hitting it...I lost count.

Saturday Breakfast was served. I Burnt the bacon and John cooked up the chorizo with egg on tortillas. Good enough for me...drivers meeting was around the corner and I was hung over.
In our Group was Snick Trail Leader, RazorBack(John), Myself, two K5 blazers and for the life of me I can't remember his name in the Jeep that was at the end.
I don't remember the name of the trails we did. It was Johns first time behind the wheel of his Toyota. Him being my Best friend I wanted to hang back and do the mild trails. It was a nice Trail Ride a few small challenges.
One of the K5's cut a tire and got that changed out. They even brought out sandwiches for lunch. It was a nice ride. John found a ribbon and snagged a impact deep socket set. It sprinkled a little here and their through out our ride and believe it or not...I managed to snap a rear U bolt. After using a strap for a quick trail repair we headed back to camp. It was now around 3p.m. or so.
The mood in the air was everyone wanting to leave today...forcast was asking for more rain and possible snow!!!
The raffle, Pork stew, and Brisket was great!!! but their after it was like a ghost town. My tent taking on water and just a bad night...I ask Rastus if he had a corner or two for me and John to stay at in his Trailer.
Thanks Bud, after a few cokes and some cake I crashed.
Sunday was the same load up and go home.
Aside from the weather. I had a good time. John wheeled his Toyota...his welded rear held up...I won a tool bag in the raffle. Surprised the wife was home early....I have a few pics on film but that is later.

We had a great time at the Playground. Many thanks to those that prepared the awesome meals. Also, thanks to RVReddog and BlazerKiller for loaning me their tent. We would've been a lot colder without it. Lots more trails to explore next time. No pics on my part due to drizzle/rain, but I was tracking our routes on GPS.

Oh and has limey made it back on here yet?? he showed up in his 4 dr tow rig and brought some firewood as did Mudgod, man that sure was nice of them and the wood was put to very very good use all weekend. Limey also had an interesting drive down. Told us just before he got there he was going around a curve a lil too fast and he did a 360 in his truck, said he did not know you could do that in a truck and not flip. Limey and truck are both fine, he was out on the rocks with us taking pics all day long..

Don't let em be messing with you. After all, you already know it's still able to move under its own power.
