What was I thinking...MUD?

Against my better judgment, I let my neighbor talk me into going to the mud bog in Nevada and taking Buster down the track. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time and not only surprised most everyone out there, it surprised me when I made it through the pit. I was in second place and had I not broken an axle u-joint, I probably would have stayed second, but instead I took 3rd. Now to clean the mess up and fix the axle. Luckily I already have a brand new set waiting to go in. The announcer and quite a few spectators were shocked to hear the diesel clatter at the line. Here's where the videos are and here's one of Buster.

Congrats. Glad you are an easy person to talk into things. Just think of how board you would have been.

Congrats on getting 3rd place!!

I used to be a mudder in my late teens-early 20s. Had a blast in my little 89 toyota on 31s.

Them boggers do good in the mud if you can keep them cleaned out. Looked like fun but the clean up sucks!!!

I used to play in the mud because that's all we had and never knew of rock crawling. I guess once you play in the mud, you never really get it out of your system.

There were five in my class and only three of us could make it through the pit. If I had made it through with my last run, I would've had 2nd. The winner was an old Bronco with a small block and what looked like 42's, the other was a Blazer. Looking at the times while picking up my prize winnings, the Bronco was only a .5 second quicker than I was. I didn't go to win, just have fun, so mission accomplished.

I was able to keep the wheel speed up and the boggers cleaned. Third gear low side bouncing off the rev limiter the whole way. Maybe next time I'll try fourth, or fix the transfercase so it will stay in high...

I figure clean up won't be bad, let it dry and take an air chisel to the frame to knock it all off.

That's cool. That was a good looking run you made. I used to pray for rain. So we could go muddin. That was about 20-30 years ago. I still like watching others in the mud. But, I've done gotten too lazy for all the clean-up.

Nah, don't fuss or feather about the cleanup. Check out the post I've just created on how to clean up your rig after mudding. Maybe you and I and others will learn a few new tricks to make it easier...

I mean that seriously. I'm just super anal when it comes to clean up after muddin'. You won't find any mud anywhere after I'm done. It's one of the benefits of having hyper OCD.

I want to make a bet on that one. A case of Coke.
You will never get rid of mud. I pressure washed our chevy for a few hours thinking I got it all. about 6 months later the fuel pump went out. I pulled the bed and sure enough their was mud still around.

The only time I have had rocks fall on me while wrenching on something is because some [email protected]$$ was dropping them down from the top.
