Wheelers For The Wounded, Nov 1

I'm sure Midnight Crawler will have a lot more to say about this.

Here's some pics from the Wheelers For The Wounded event at Boulder Creek on Saturday Nov 1.

My Folder
http://www.texas4x4.org/gallery/album637?page=1

I got to lead a group of 11 rigs through the trails.
All of them were Jeeps except mine. Some of the folks were newbies and some had experience. A wide range of capability within the group. We suffered 2 sliced tires and one steering box broke loose from the frame.

My dad went wheeling with me for the first time. He said he'd be happy to go again.

Chris and his son were in this Jeep with open axles front and rear. Did pretty well.

Had a little excitement at the end of "5 Hole".

Nice climb at Wildcat Stairway.

I thought the last pic above was the climb until I saw a pic of the bowl from Nikole. I guess we didn't.

It was an awesome run, glad I got to be a part of this group. Austin, Hal, it was nice to meet yall and wheel with yall. Bobby, Jeff, it was good to wheel with yall again.

Richard, this was a great event and and awsome gathering! Kudos!

To the rest of the Midnighters, it was good to see everyone again, maybe next trip I'll get to wheel with yall too. Maybe the Toyota and I will make it to Clayton for the Turkey Run.

As soon as I get the Pics from dustin_mud, I'll get them posted. He got some great pics!

Well, Lynne, Richie and I made it back home around 6:00 pm last night and finished unloading around 9:00 pm. Just got to work and wanted to post up on the Wheeler For The Wounded Event.

Rig count was 37 rigs and 26 passengers.

Lynne and I arrived at Boulder Creek Farms on Friday around 3:00 pm to begin setting up event. General Brake and Alingment and crew as well as JK Customs showed up at the same time and began helping us set up base camp and the pavillion. We finished around 6:00 pm and Al with General Brake cooked up some delicious fajitas with all the dips and trimmings. We ate around 7:00 pm and drank a few s/margaritas. The Trees Ranch group showed up as well as a few Land Cruiser group thought the evening. We started a nice camp fire around 8:00 pm and sat around enjoying everyones company. At 9:30 pm Mike Nashif and family (Take a Soldier Fishing) arrived and Al and his wife prepared a nice meal for them. Al, that was a very nice gesture and meal you prepared for our special guest. As we sat by the fire and looked up into the clear skies you could see the stars and what would begin to a great event. Nick with Ranch Hand Truck arrived around midnight and set up camp. Around 1:30 am I went to bed awaiting the next morning.

Woke up Saturday around 6:00 am and got ready for the day. Mike Nashif and Lynne prepared breakfast for volunteers present. The first to arrive were the Midnighter Four Wheelers volunteers. Bobby (River Rat), Darlene, Jorge (Almarez), Richie (My son), Delta (Blazer Killer), Chris & Patty, Rick (Bowtie) & Janie/Tabby, Mike (RedNeckKnowHow), Jeff (Bigjimmysrock), George (Zuki). They set up at their locations and began registering everyone and selling raffle tickets. Another group to show up was Jeromy and his father-in-law with two truckloads of door prizes donated by Four Wheel Parts. An let me tell you the two trucks were full of prizes. As rigs were showing up the volunteers were welcoming them to the event and helping them set up camp and unload rigs.

Drivers meeting was held at 9:30 am and everyone was updated on schedule of events for the day. Shortly after, a group picture was taken with rigs and a WFTW Banner in the back ground. This will be a nice picture to send to Jason Havlik (Founder of WFTW). Everyone hit the trails around 10:00 am and had lunch on the trails as well. The group I was with went out to Snoopy Falls and pretty much spent all day in and out of the different sections of this trail.

At 3:00 pm the group headed back to base camp to begin and clean up and move base camp to the pavillion to begin raffle sales, sign ups and meal. All Midnighter's lent their helping hands and set up the pavillion and we were cooking around 4:30 pm. The menu for the meal was Chicken Fried Chicken/Gravy, Fries, Corn, Bread, Tea. Special thanks to all Midnighter's volunteers, but a very special thanks to Mike (RedNeckKnowHow) for cooking up fries and chicken. . We began serving plate and selling raffle tickets at 6:00 pm until 7:45 pm.

At 7:00 PM Boulder Creek Farms had a 10' projection screen with the Texas/Texas Tech game on LIVE. Wow, wheeling and a game at the same times.

At 7:45 pm raffle sales stopped and I as made a presentation to everyone on the WFTW main event coming up in May 2009. We acknowledged all SPONSORS (Wheelers For The Wounded, Midnight Four Wheelers, Boulder Creek Farms, Texas4x4.org, ZukiKrawlers.com, 4 Wheel Parts, Ranch Hand, Fresh From Texas, Autozone, General Brake and Alingment, Chis Coppola, Lynnes Learning Loft, Trees Ranch, Satan's Playground, Firestone, Ben E. Keith, Sysco).

Raffle begin at 8:15 pm and ended around 9:00 pm. We had many happy winners.

After raffle, all Midnighters helped clean up. Around 10:00 pm we headed back to base camp and sat by the camp fire and enjoyed each others stories. We went to sleep around 2:00 am Sunday morning.

Woke up around 8:00 am on Sunday, had breakfast and hit the trails. We wheeled till 2:00 pm and headed back to camp to clean up and head out.

We raised close to $3,900 on this event and I want to personally thank each participant and others that have donated that weren't able to make the event. I also want to thank all Midnight Four Wheeler for stepping up and doing what we do. In closing I want to especially thank Lynne and my son Richie for supporting me through all the long nights and the time loss spending with them in order to organize this event.

almost 100% sure it's a had headgasket so it'll get a fresh up. probably won't rebuild the entire thing but have the head magnafluxed and decked and rebuilt clean the block up and put a bunch of new seals, waterpump and timing chain. and clean up all the loose ends
get on them pics!
