18 Wheeler Sleeper

Any one know where one's at? I want to mount it on the front of my trailer.
The closer the better. The cheaper the better. My trailers 25' long to short for two, kinda over kill for one vehicle,so I figured storage and a place to crash. I have a bumper pull thats 17' and like it it's light easy to get around with but no storage. There's room to sleep on it after the Jeeps downloaded but no roof. Guess I could sleep under the Jeep. Thanks in advance.

There is a place that sells them down between Austin and San Antonio.

FYI

Most of the new ones are integrated into the cab. I'm not sure what year mine is, but I don't see any on the road. My "flattop" sure grabs a lot of wind. I wouldn't get the tall one unless you really want to stand up straight in it.

I was thinking one of the ones that you see behind the older conventionals just a box with rounded corners. I saw one in another thread but can't remember witch one.

Well I started building one yesterday with some left over aluminum I had. My bud stopped by to see what was going on and had a lead on a slid in camper a friend of his was giving away. So I got the box just about finished and we went and picked up the slid in to. About an hour later my buddy calls and tells me the guy that gave the side to the fella we got it from tossed the keys to the door. But as luck would have it he had done it only a hour ago and fished them outa the garbage can. SWEET
I'll get some pics up

Sleeper

Does it matter if the sleeper is off a flat top or a stand up? Dad has six trucks and have taken a couple sleepers of and made them day cabs...

The one above is a flattop. It's up to you how much air you want to drag around.

Thanks but your to late I started to build my own yesterday. I'll post some pictures. It realy dosen't matter about the air drag to me, it's not about going and comming it's all about being there wheeling and having a nice place to stay when there's some down time! We did a bunch of planning today and it's going to be cool. Going to have one bench/bed one pull down bed a 3 burner stove a sink and a simple gravity feed water system. I got the pot out of the camper. It had a 12,000 btu heater nice camper door 3 windows a roof vent. Goin to build a box for staps, chains, a propain tank cubby and a spot for my 1750 generator. Looking for a big screen TV lol.

Dott that sleeper you got is from a KW. KW flattops are a little more rare than a Pete for some reason. You just hardly ever see them. A standup sleeper should be easier to find in both a KW or Pete config. Flattops are "cooler" to have in the trucking industry alot of people pull there standoffs up and replace with a flattop. And your right all your newer trucks are integrated expcept for Pete 379's and the KW W900.

It's probably too far away, but here's where I got mine. South side of San Antonio. They had another KW flattop like mine at the time.

How much will that flat top weigh when its ready for the trail, do ya think? I'd love to do something like it on my GN, but I want it removable for when I put 2 rigs on it. But I don't want to take a whole day to put it on/off.

I'm guessing mine weighs 500 lbs. I have a lot of room for storage, so it varies depending on how long I'll be gone. I like to be able to load it up just like any other camper, even a place to hang clothes.

I can offload it in about an hour by myself. I have limited space so I end up walking around the front of the trailer a lot. With a helper, about 1/2 hour.

It's held onto the trailer with turnbuckles. I put some cedar skids under it. The strap is just for traveling. Just in case the side door comes open and to hold the large door closed.

With the F350 V10, I was getting about 8 or 9 without the camper. With the camper, I can barely get it over 7mpg. So, I lost 1 or 2. With the Dodge I get about 11 or 12 with camper.

I don't know exactly but I'll guess 12-18" higher. Compare the "lid seam" above the door.
You would be able to stand up straight in that one. I have to lean over a little in mine.

I figured it would hurt 1 to 2 mpg isn't bad. I'll sacrifice that for the convenience.
