73-73 full removable top blazer

looking for a 73-75 full removable top blazer to swap my drivetrain in to. I dont need anything but the tub and frame, but will consider a complete one if the price is right. The less rust the better. Thanks, Laramie 806-420-9091

If you do find one it is one helluva modification to make that swap. You give up body strength when you cut your old top (above driver/passenger) off. You can't get good welds on the inner supports or the donor windshield frame and making the doors and top all seal together is such a pain in the ... Tried it before and just took the time to locate an original full top. It would be easier in "One man's opinion" to just chop your top at the windshield, put in a roll cage hoop or 4-point cage and just have a soft-top made at a boat sail shop.

Good luck either way you go!!!

And it was '73-'75 that had the full-tops....

MAN! that is one clean blazer, I would love to screw that one up too..lol Mine was that clean before I started wheeling it. Its still rust free w/52000 mile on the clock, but none of the drivetrain is original anymore. This was my first vehicle when I was a kid, and last year I bent the frame and tweaked the body at the Sand Drags. I was pretty upset, but since I have to do some body work I am gonna chop it into a full convertible, and build a full cage. This isnt my main crawler, but I do run some trails in it. Specs are '80 blazer/454TBI/TH400/205/60/14B 4" lift, ORD crossover steering and 35"SXs. AND A BENT FRAME!

good deal, I think I already have a line on a pre-1981 frame, but if that falls through I'll give you a holler.

I snagged me a windshield frame today, but I still lack the pieces to convert my doors to the full convertible style. I will buy entire doors or just pieces if that all ya'll have. Thanks, Laramie

You can cut your existing doors down to size and order the trim pieces needed to cap the top and bottom cuts from LMC. Order one of their catalogs for the '73-'75 Blazers and you can get the things needed...seals, trim pieces, etc... The window track needs to be adjusted by the door handle for not having the complete track once you cut it down.

Just some friendly info for ya... Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up on the door mods, as getting the windows to work properly seems like it will be the most daunting part of the project. A buddy gave me a set of doors and a top for this setup, but I was just planning on using his doors for a pattern for modding mine. I havent picked them up yet, but I'm sure they are just as rusted as the rest of the tub was before he junked it.

Also looking for a clean '78 and earlier front clip!

Anyone know much about the frame differences between '77-'80 blazers and the '81-91's? I know about the bumper mount differences, but I have also heard that the body mounts (actual dimensions, not locations) may be a lil different.

Just make sure you make small cuts at a time on the doors. You can take off more, but you can't put it back!!!

I just welded my window track to the piece i welded in as a cap on the latch side cut. You will need to figure out where it needs to be to make the window track tight and allow the window to roll up good before you tack it too good.

Major varieties are 73-77, 78-80, and 81-91.

The rear floor changed for '78, and the bumper mounts, at least, changed for '81.

Got my doors modded today, but i'm missing a couple of parts for the driver side. I need the window guide for the rear of the door, and the cap that goes over the cut. Thanks, Laramie
