K5 Axles

My buddy has a K5, he is looking to find some stock axles with a higher gear ratio to turn 35's, but doesnt have any funds to do them, etc... Anyone have any stock axles geared higher than stock laying around for a good price??? He has plans to only use it as a weekend warrior only (weekend driving or light offroading) so no need to go to heavier axles for offroad purpose (unless cheap and direct bolt), just geared higher for higher speeds. I think its an 84. Let me know. Thanks

These two lines somewhat contradict each other. Most people go to lower gears (higher numerically) to turn bigger tires, but you mention wanting the gears for higher speeds...

Yeah i sat there for a few minutes trying to word this right. Ok, he has stock axles, with 33's and is unsatisfied with his highway speeds (65 uphill limit) and as a result with his dissatisfaction he plans on selling, but he really wants to keep it, so I told him I would look for some stock axles with a lower gear ratio (higher numbers; thats why I said higher) which would help him turn the tires better for a faster highway speed/ general acceleration. Am I wrong about that??? Wouldnt 4:10 gears or so allow him to cruise at highway speeds with either 33 or 35 inch tires better than stock? I figured he could find some axles someone geared lower who then later switched to larger axles for offroad purposes that would be willing to sell them for little. Did I fix the contridiction?

Here is what I know.
The lower the gears like 4:10's the better you can turn larger tires.
I know that lower gears (higher numerically) reduces the top speed right???The higher the gears lower numericaly, the better for highway speeds right?

What I dont know
If he has stock axles with stock gear ratios, with 33's and is loosing power uphill on highway 65 max, would he want lower gears to turn the tires better or higher.

So without any experience in driving a K5, lifted with 33's or 35's what gear ratio would be best for driving at 75+ miles per hour on a highway with a grade.

I know, larger axles right, but he is not looking to offroad hardcore just lightly so why spend the money on larger axles. Could he not just find some stock axles someone already regeared and has them just laying around after they went up to larger axles.

Does anyone have the right gear ratio in stock axle to fit this application for a very good price? (Few now it fits in the wanted ad section instead of noob tech.)

Lower gears(NUMERICALY HIGHER 4.56, 4.88 5.13) will help with take off power. In the case of 35s on the highway you will want lower gears(numerically higher) to compensate for the tires diameter and a general lack of power from the engine.

Higher gears(numerically lower 3.55, 3.23, 3.10) would give you more top speed if the motor could make enough power to turn what ends up being a very high gear ratio. With my 40s I wish I had gone with 5.13 gears because on the highway I can rarely use overdrive. If the truck has overdrive, taking it out of overdrive will let you run faster down the highway with the current setup. IMO ,with overdrive, 4.56 is a good ratio for 35s on a stock motor. Without, I would use 4.10.

But no, I dont have any 4.10 geared 10 bolts.

Baby Jeff is selling his axles,D44 front 12bolt rear both with 456 gears and a locker in the front a possi in the rear. This would be a direct bolt in for you. I think he is asking 800.00 for the pair but don`t hold me to it. I can check with him if you are interested.
