cheaper to use your existing 4" grinder with a 1/4" wide grinding wheel. thats how i grooved my tires and they came out great. plus if you like the way tire smoke smells its great, i think i smelled like g tires for about a week. it was much easier than using a tire groover and its easier on your hands. i even tried the chainsaw method but it was very unsafe

Be sure to pay attention where the grinder is throwing the hot rubber....I had a dandy of a mess to clean up after just 1 tire.

I know in this economy it may be hard, but pony up for the cash and do it right. $120.00 is not such a big investment when Swamper's cost what they cost now a days. I'd hate to see you miss with the grinder and screw the tire up.

Talk with Matt (Obijuan). He might have a used tire groover he'd sell on the cheap.

Oh wait. Let me restate that...He might have a used tire groover he'd sell.

Ive done the grinder method and imo it sucks compared to using an actual tire groover.

I bought a used Ideal Groover off of Ebay for like $26 shipped and then ordered some new blades for a few more bucks and it's way better than any grinder. Yes the grinder will work but it is crazy messy and there will be rubber dust on everything.

Buy a used one or ask around and see if you can borrow someone elses and offer to buy them some extra blades for letting you use it. I would loan you mine but Im in Iraq...

You one crazy dude!

I used a circular saw, you can see the small cuts on the outer lugs in the picture above. Then I bought the groover.

I decided to keep my TSLs and i like how they look w/o any grooves in them. I was going to get a set of boggers but backed out because they arent the greatest for what the yota is going to be used for... oh and i have tried the grinder... that **** sucks! I tryed on old blue with the 52s and i guess its because the tires were hard but number one i got NO WHERE and number two i was covered in rubber, litterally got nothing done and had to toss two sets of clothes. If your just siping tires im sure it works ace though.

This reminds me of when I was cutting the small lugs off my 44" boggers with a on the PIG when a jehovah witness walked up and watched for a few minutes not wanting to disturb me.

Once the smoked cleared he asked me. "Sir, can I ask what you are doing to that tire?"

I looked up at him with a grin and told him " what does it look like I'm doing? I'm fawking up a 600 dollor tire and went back to cutting!"

With out a word he turned and walked away and I've yet to have another one come bug me.
